About Lu

Lu Fine is a Brooklyn-based, award-winning writer, director, editor, and gaffer. Their work is inspired by offbeat tales of displacement from home, self-discovery, and queerness and transness in rural America. Lu’s directing projects have been showcased at various festivals, including The Anthology Institute, Independent Shorts Awards, The San Francisco Transgender Film Festival, TAG! Queer Shorts Festival, and The Future of Art. Recently, their short narrative film “Nothing Felt Like Her” won the Gold Award at the September 2024 Independent Shorts Awards. Their narrative fiction has been featured in literary magazines such as The Fiction Pool.
